About Us
We are a specialist electrical contractor based in Harpenden.
Most of our work is on heritage and listed properties, larger houses and garden lighting schemes, with some commercial maintenance alongside. The work is varied and the sites are interesting. All of it is local to Hertfordshire and North London.
We work to a high standard because that is what our reputation is built on. We care about how a job looks when it is finished, not just that it works, and we look for people who feel the same way.
The role
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Electrician to join our team.
You will lead a two person team, with a trainee working alongside you to support the job and learn from you. Teaching and mentoring is part of the role, and it is worth saying that our trainees are selected carefully and trained through the KG Academy from day one. They are there to work and to learn, not to be carried. Behind you there is a compliance manager for technical support and sign-off, and an operations manager handling scheduling and client liaison, so you can focus on the installation work itself.
The work includes garden lighting installations, rewires and upgrades, fault finding, and maintenance across our commercial contracts.
How we operate:
- Materials are ordered in advance and ready for collection each morning.
- Scheduling and job information are managed through our CRM. You have full details of every job before you arrive on site, and you can see your diary weeks in advance, so you can plan your life around your work.
- Test certificates are completed on site and submitted electronically to the office.
We run an internal training session, the KG Academy, every six weeks, covering new products, installation techniques and practical problem solving. We also support relevant external training and CPD.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and equipment in residential, and commercial settings.
- Conduct routine inspections and troubleshoot electrical faults efficiently.
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding work progress and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times during site visits.
What we are looking for
- A minimum of 4 years' experience as an electrician on domestic and residential sites.
- C+G, AM2 and 18th Edition Qualifications are essential.
- 2391 Testing & Inspection, or an equivalent inspection and testing qualification.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, maintenance procedures, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Customer service orientation with a professional attitude.
- Ability to diagnose faults accurately and perform repairs efficiently.
- Organised with good time management skills to prioritise workload effectively.
- A full, clean UK driving licence
- Your own hand and power tools.
We are looking for someone who wants to settle in and stay, not someone between jobs. We check references thoroughly, and at interview we will want to hear about work you have done that you are proud of.
