Shinfield Dental Centre is a busy, well-established 4-surgery mixed NHS and private practice, and we’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Dental Nurse to join our team.
We’re seeking a qualified Dental Nurse who is currently working in a Lead Dental Nurse role or has significant experience leading a nursing team and is ready to take the next step. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring others, maintaining high clinical standards, and helping a practice run efficiently.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, although we’re happy to wait for the right candidate to complete their notice period.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- GDC registration as a Qualified Dental Nurse.
- Previous experience in a Lead Dental Nurse role (preferred).
- Excellent knowledge of CQC regulations and compliance.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and control.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- The ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- A proactive, positive attitude with excellent communication skills.
- The confidence to support, motivate and guide fellow dental nurses.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
As our Lead Dental Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and leading the nursing team on a daily basis.
- Mentoring, training and guiding new and existing team members.
- Ensuring compliance with CQC standards and practice policies.
- Maintaining exceptional infection prevention and decontamination standards.
- Completing and monitoring practice audits, including infection control, radiography, health & safety and clinical governance audits.
- Assisting with CQC preparation and ongoing compliance.
- Ensuring surgeries are fully equipped, stocked and maintained.
- Managing and monitoring clinical stock levels and ordering when required.
- Supporting rota planning and coordinating nursing cover.
- Working closely with the Practice Manager and clinicians to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Assisting with administrative duties relating to compliance and clinical governance.
- Supporting the implementation of new protocols and procedures.
- Nursing chairside when required across NHS and private treatments.
- Ensuring equipment checks, maintenance logs and documentation are completed accurately.
- Helping to maintain a positive, professional and supportive working environment.
- Coordinating CPD and ensuring GDC registration, indemnity and mandatory training remain up to date.
- Managing the practice’s emergency drug checks and emergency equipment.
- Monitoring HTM 01-05 compliance and decontamination records.
- Placing stock orders
- Doing Audits
