Cidon is looking for a Junior Estimator to join our growing commercial team, supporting the pricing of groundworks and reinforced concrete packages across the building and civil engineering sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their estimating career within a specialist contractor, working alongside experienced estimators on projects valued from £5 million to £30 million+.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will assist with the preparation of competitive tenders while developing your technical and commercial knowledge through hands-on experience and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of tenders from drawings and specifications
- Measure and take off quantities from construction drawings
- Help produce rates and estimates under the guidance of senior estimators
- Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Assist with analysing tender information and preparing submissions
- Raise technical queries with clients and design teams where required
- Support the management of multiple live tenders
- Attend tender review and handover meetings
- Learn to identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities
- Support the successful handover of projects to the delivery teams
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- An HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or relevant industry experience
- Some experience within construction, groundworks or reinforced concrete (placement, trainee or site experience welcomed)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work well within a team
