Job description for Chef/Cook 4 Days per week 9am to 6pm (includes working alternate weekends)
Position: Chef/Cook
Responsible to: Director, Registered Manager.
Purpose of Position
To prepare and cook a balanced, nutritious diet within a controlled hygienic environment.
To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage.
Principal responsibilities
To control stocks and purchases, thereby allocation quantities of materials.
To keep the purchase of materials within allocated budgets.
To produce maintain a balanced diet and varied menus.
To be aware of the service users needs and dietary preferences.
To ensure you are trained within the requirements of current legislation.
To maintain ⁴⁴ kitchen equipment as specified by respective manufacturers.
To ensure the kitchen cleaning programme is strictly adhered to.
To ensure that the kitchen is cleaned after use and, at the end of each shift, leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state.
To ensure that each individual service users daily choice of food is recorded.
To ensure adequate daily stocks of consumables are readily available to staff.
To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.
