We are a family-focused, family run and friendly dental practice in central St Ives. The role is for an Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing (trainee) with some dental receptionist duties
A dental nurse supports the dentist in all aspects of patients’ dental care.
At the Old Grammar School Dental Surgery, our dental nurses are at the heart of our practice welcoming our patients into our practice and supporting our dentists in their work.
Some patients will be there for a check-up while others will have more complicated treatment. Our nurses need to reassure patients and put them at ease while working together as a team in all aspects of patient care.
On a daily basis our nurses:
- work closely with the dentist, responding quickly to requests and generally keeping the surgery ready for use.
- take responsibility for the decontamination of instruments.
- look after patient records – including making notes when the dentist is examining a patient.
- maintain dental operating equipment.
- ensure that all relevant materials and supplies are in place.
They are also responsible for ensuring high standards of cleanliness and control of infection.
There will also be some Dental Receptionist duties within the role. These will include aspects such as (but not limited to):
- Greeting patients and visitors with a warm and friendly demeanor
- Scheduling appointments and manage the dental office's appointment calendar
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional manner
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and record keeping
- Follow up with patients regarding appointment reminders and post-treatment care instructions
