JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Finance Assistant provides high-quality financial and operational support across the Finance Department. The role provides accurate financial processing, strong controls and timely reporting, through hands-on transactional work, and contributing to monthly, quarterly and year-end processes. The post-holder is expected to be numerate, financially accurate, collaborative and able to comply with all UK financial regulations.
ROLE & RESPONSIBLITIES
1. Oversee daily accounts payable/receivable, ensuring invoices, credit notes, journals and cashbook entries are accurate and timely.
2. Complete and review bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, supplier statement reconciliations and control account checks.
3. Prepare VAT returns, ensure correct VAT coding and support compliance with UK financial regulations and internal financial controls.
4. Assist in the preparation and distribution of management accounts, variance analysis, journals and supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly and year-end accounts.
5. Reconcile organisational credit card statements, receipts and reporting.
6. Provide financial and statistical analysis to budget holders and support their forecasting and help identify budgetary pressures/overspends.
7. Assist with purchase orders, and financial accounting in relation to residential and commercial properties.
8. Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve automation and enhance reporting where possible.
9. Assist in audits by preparing documentation, resolving queries and ensuring compliance.
10. Build strong working relationships across the organisation, and with suppliers and auditors, answering queries promptly and efficiently.
11. Support the Finance Director and the team, and undertake all reasonable additional tasks and projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
AAT Level 4 and working towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA
A minimum of 4 years' experience in a financial role
Strong numeracy skills, with an understanding of accounting processes and principles and a proven ability to interpret financial data
Experience of accounting software (Xero and Zahara) and advanced Excel skills
Excellent organisational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail.
Pay: £29,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
