We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Bricklayer/Pointer to join our construction team. This role involves working on various masonry projects, ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in bricklaying and pointing, with a strong understanding of masonry techniques. Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, blocks, and stones accurately according to project specifications and blueprints
- Perform pointing work to fill joints between bricks or stones, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, levelling, and applying mortar or other bonding agents
- Use hand tools such as trowels, hammers, chisels, and levels to complete tasks efficiently
- Operate power tools safely for cutting, shaping, or finishing masonry materials
- Assist with related carpentry or roofing tasks as needed on site
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to maintain a secure working environment
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Skills
- Proven experience in bricklaying and masonry work with a strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools specific to bricklaying and pointing
- Knowledge of masonry techniques, including the proper mixing and application of mortar
- Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights if required
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to follow technical drawings and instructions
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a team environment
