Salary: £12.71 Per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 6.00pm–9.00pm
Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks per year
Little Rooks Nursery, part of Rookwood School, is seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaning Operative to join our Estates team. This role is essential in ensuring our nursery environment remains clean, safe and welcoming for children, staff and visitors.
We are looking for an individual who takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail and can work independently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the nursery.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean toilets and wash basins daily, replenishing toilet tissue, soap and other consumables as required
- Empty bins and replace waste sacks daily
- Clean and sanitise worktops, tables and other surfaces using the appropriate cleaning products
- Vacuum carpeted areas and mop hard floors to a high standard
- Remove marks and spillages promptly to maintain a safe environment
- Dust and clean window ledges, skirting boards, banisters and other fixtures as needed
- Ensure all areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Request cleaning products and supplies through the Cleaning Supervisor as required
- Ensure doors and windows are secured at the end of each shift unless occupied by authorised staff
- Comply with all COSHH regulations, health and safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Report any hazards, maintenance issues or health and safety concerns promptly
- Operate cleaning equipment, such as scrubber/drier or buffing machines, where trained to do so
- Support periodic deep cleaning activities and other cleaning duties as required
Qualifications & Experience Desired
- Previous cleaning experience is desirable, preferably within a school, nursery or similar environment
- COSHH training desirable
- First Aid qualification desirable
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable, trustworthy and committed to maintaining high standards
- Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
