Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced individual to join our team as a van driver The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering goods efficiently and safely, ensuring timely arrivals, and maintaining excellent communication with clients and team members. This role offers an opportunity to utilise your driving expertise within a dynamic warehouse environment, supporting the organisation’s logistical operations. A valid Category B driver licence is essential, along with a strong focus on safety and customer service. this can involve multi drop work.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate 1 Tonne and 3.5 Ton Pick up open back vans for delivery purposes on a multi drop basis 15 per day as average, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies
- Load and unload goods, often requiring some lifting, with attention to proper handling techniques but parts are not heavy and you must be able to strap the loads on the vehicle using basic ratchet straps for safe transportation
- Plan delivery routes to optimise efficiency and meet scheduled deadlines
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding delivery times and any potential delays
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs
- Assist in warehouse duties as required, including stock organisation and inventory checks
- Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and well-maintained, reporting any issues promptly
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to prevent accidents or injuries during deliveries
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving roles, preferably within warehouse or logistics environments
- Valid B driver licence with a clean driving record max 6 points for Speeding
- Experience with basic manual lifting and manual handling tasks
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism
- Prior experience in warehouse operations is advantageous but not essential
