About the Role
As a Graduate Secondary Teaching Assistant, you'll support students throughout Key Stages 3 and 4 who need additional encouragement to succeed in school. Some pupils have diagnosed SEND, while others benefit from extra guidance with confidence, organisation, behaviour, emotional wellbeing or engaging positively with school life.
Every day is different, providing the opportunity to build valuable experience working alongside experienced teachers and specialist support staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students within lessons across a range of subjects
- Delivering targeted interventions on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Supporting students with additional learning, social and emotional needs
- Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND department
- Monitoring pupil progress and celebrating successes
What We're Looking For
The ideal Graduate Secondary Teaching Assistant will have:
- A degree in any subject
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient and positive approach
- The ability to build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
