About the Role
Dunbar Education is recruiting an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teacher for a specialist school in Maidenhead from September 2026.
The successful teacher will deliver personalised and engaging learning to pupils with a range of special educational needs. You will work closely with support staff, therapists and other professionals to ensure that every pupil can access an appropriate curriculum and make meaningful progress.
This opportunity would suit an experienced SEN Teacher or a mainstream teacher with strong inclusive practice who is genuinely motivated to develop within specialist education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver personalised lessons appropriate to pupils’ individual starting points.
- Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet a range of learning, communication and sensory needs.
- Set meaningful learning objectives linked to Education, Health and Care Plans.
- Assess and monitor pupils’ academic, personal and developmental progress.
- Direct and work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and specialist support staff.
- Create a structured, nurturing and engaging classroom environment.
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and independence.
- Work closely with families, therapists and external professionals.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour support and professional practice.
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is required.
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
- Mainstream teachers with strong differentiation and inclusive-teaching experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Able to plan creatively for pupils working at different developmental and academic levels.
- Patient, adaptable and committed to building positive relationships.
- Comfortable leading a classroom team and directing support effectively.
- A good understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans and personalised learning.
- Experience supporting autism, complex learning needs or communication difficulties would be beneficial.
