JOB PURPOSE
To act as a senior technical lead for the design, development and delivery of solutions on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE/CRM and Power Platform within the Innovation & Technology (I&T) team. The Senior Software Developer will take ownership of complex development work, provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced developers, and work closely with product owners and QA colleagues to ensure the firm's Dynamics-based systems are robust, scalable and aligned with business needs.
CORE TASKS
- Design, develop, test and deploy customisations, configurations, plugins, workflows and integrations across Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE/CRM and the Power Platform
- Act as a technical lead on Dynamics 365 and Power Platform projects, providing guidance on solution design, architecture and best practice
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, working closely with product owners
- Build and maintain integrations between Dynamics 365, the Power Platform and other firm systems, using tools such as Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions and custom APIs
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers, supporting their development and conducting code reviews
- Collaborate with the QA function to define acceptance criteria and support defect resolution, ensuring high-quality, well-tested releases
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues within Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions, including performance and integration issues
- Contribute to the definition and enforcement of development standards, coding conventions and technical documentation across the Dynamics development function
- Keep up to date with new Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform features, and proactively identify opportunities to improve existing solutions
- Be aware of Brodies’ information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Must have experience developing solutions on Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE/CRM and the Power Platform, ideally 5+ years experience
- Proven track record of leading or taking primary technical responsibility for Dynamics 365 development projects from design through to deployment
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, engaging effectively with product owners, QA colleagues and other stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical, detail-oriented approach to complex technical challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a hybrid working environment
- Degree qualified in an IT, Computer Science or Science-related subject, or equivalent experience gained through an apprenticeship or vocational route
- Experience working within a legal environment or with legal software would be beneficial, though not essential
- Experience leading or mentoring other developers would be an advantage
- A relevant Microsoft certification (e.g. Power Platform Developer, Dynamics 365 Customization and Configuration) is beneficial, though not essential
SKILLS
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE/CRM customisation and configuration, including plugins, workflows, business rules and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- Strong C#, .NET and JavaScript development skills, with experience of the Dynamics 365 SDK and Dataverse
- Strong understanding of Dynamics 365 solution architecture, security models and data models
- Understanding of software development lifecycles and DevOps practices, including source control and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps)
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and structured development plans in collaboration with product owners and architects
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple development workstreams and priorities simultaneously
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, quality-focused approach to development work
- Strong communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across development, QA and product teams
