Our Norwich‑based client is a leading specialist construction and manufacturing business, known for delivering high‑quality projects across the region. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their QS career to develop their skills, gain hands‑on experience and progress within a supportive, fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities (Junior Level)
Support the commercial team with day‑to‑day quantity surveying duties across multiple projects
Assist in reviewing commercial plans, cost information and project documentation
Help prepare monthly commercial reports and audits
Support the administration of subcontract documentation, ensuring compliance with company procedures
Assist in preparing Applications for Payment and gathering supporting information
Help issue supplier and subcontractor payment certificates under supervision
Support the variation process by collecting cost data and preparing draft submissions
Maintain accurate records, files and commercial documentation
Assist with cost‑to‑complete forecasting and valuation tasks
Contribute to final account preparation under guidance from senior team members
Key Skills & Knowledge (Junior Level)
A flexible, organised and proactive approach to changing priorities
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn commercial processes
Some experience or exposure to construction, commercial administration or project support
Basic understanding of construction contracts (JCT or NEC beneficial but not essential)
Confident IT skills, including Excel and document management systems
Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and clients
A team‑focused attitude with a desire to develop within the quantity surveying profession
Ideally studying towards or holding a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar (or equivalent experience)
