The Energy Experts is an established renewable-energy company based in Team Valley, Gateshead. We have been installing solar systems throughout the North East and beyond since 2012, helping homeowners and businesses reduce their energy costs and environmental impact.
We provide solar PV, battery storage, EV charging and electrical contracting services, combining quality products with expert advice, professional installation and excellent customer care.
As demand continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Solar Electrician to join our installation team.
The role
You will be responsible for the safe, compliant and high-quality electrical installation of domestic and commercial solar PV and battery storage systems.
Working alongside our roofing and operations teams, you will represent The Energy Experts in customers’ homes and businesses. You will take pride in completing installations correctly the first time, explaining systems clearly to customers and leaving every property clean, safe and tidy.
The role will involve travel to customer sites, primarily across the North East, although occasional work further afield may be required.
Key responsibilities
· Complete the electrical installation of domestic and commercial solar PV and battery storage systems and associated equipment, including generation meters, isolators, consumer-unit connections and monitoring equipment.
· Undertake electrical testing, inspection and commissioning.
· Diagnose and resolve electrical or system faults.
· Complete installation records, test certificates, photographs and commissioning documentation accurately.
· Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations, manufacturer requirements, MCS standards and company procedures.
· Carry out pre-installation checks and identify potential technical or safety issues.
· Work effectively with roofers, surveyors, project coordinators and other members of the installation team.
· Explain the installed system and monitoring equipment clearly to the customer.
· Protect customers’ property and maintain a clean, professional work area.
· Take responsibility for the quality and safety of your own work and deliver installations with minimal defects, call-backs or snagging.
· Support other electrical and renewable-energy projects when required.
What we are looking for
Essential
- Level 3 electrical installation qualification or recognised equivalent.
- Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent recognised competency.
- AM2 qualification or equivalent.
- Solar PV and electrical energy storage system qualification.
- Experience undertaking electrical testing, inspection and certification.
- Practical experience installing solar PV and/or battery storage systems.
- Good knowledge of BS 7671 and safe isolation procedures.
- Ability to diagnose faults and solve technical problems independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel and occasionally work away from home when required.
- Ability to work safely at height and in loft spaces.
Desirable
- Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing, such as City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent.
- ECS Gold Card.
- Experience with EV charger installations.
- Commercial solar PV experience.
- Familiarity with MCS installation and documentation requirements.

Working arrangements
- Job type: Full-time, permanent.
- Base: Team Valley, Gateshead.
- Working hours: 40 hours per week - 8-6pm variable
- Travel: Regular travel to customer sites is required in the North of England.
- Start date: As soon as possible.
