We are a fast-growing and innovative company specialising in Passive Fire Protection, delivering high-quality solutions to safeguard people and property. As part of our expansion, we are seeking an experienced Fire Door Engineer to carry out installation and remedial works to join our team.
Role Overview
As a Fire Door Engineer, you will be responsible for the professional installation, remediation, maintenance, and inspection of fire doors across various sectors, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and government buildings. This is a mobile role covering sites throughout England, so a willingness to travel and work away from home when required is essential. The role requires a meticulous professional with a strong understanding of fire safety regulations and installation and remediation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install fire doors and frames to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations (BS 8214, Approved Document B).
- Carry out fire door remedial works, including repairs and component replacements to certified standards.
- Fit door components such as intumescent strips, hinges, locks, latches, closers, and glazing as per specifications.
- Conduct thorough inspections of fire doors and provide reports on compliance.
- Travel to and work across sites throughout England, including overnight stays where required.
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with clients, site managers, and colleagues.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Fire Door Installer.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry or equivalent.
- Recognised fire-door installation or inspection training
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and third-party certification schemes (e.g., BM TRADA, FIRAS).
- Strong carpentry and joinery skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of passive fire protection and compartmentation.
- Full UK driving license (preferred).
- CSCS card (preferred).
Desirable Qualifications
- FIRAS or BM TRADA certification.
- Asbestos Awareness training.
- Manual Handling certification.
- Enhanced DBS check.
