Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, tasty meals tailored to the dietary requirements of residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times. Duties
- Prepare and cook daily meals for residents in accordance with dietary plans and nutritional guidelines
- Plan menus that cater to special dietary needs, preferences, and cultural requirements
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing up and sanitising surfaces
- Manage stock levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste
- Assist with serving meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Record food temperatures and maintain accurate documentation of food safety procedures
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure meal times run smoothly and residents’ needs are met
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a care home or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Previous kitchen or culinary experience, including meal preparation and serving
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage stock levels effectively
- Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills
- Relevant catering or culinary qualifications are desirable but not essential
