As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and detail-oriented Graduate Trainee Accountant to join our friendly finance team at our Conlig Head Office, conveniently located just off the Bangor–Ards dual carriageway.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Finance & Commercial Director, you will become an important part of our small, friendly and supportive finance team.
Working closely with experienced members of the finance team, you will gain broad practical experience across a range of accounting and finance functions while developing your technical and commercial knowledge.
The role will provide exposure to the day-to-day financial operations of the business and, for the right candidate, the opportunity to develop and take on increasing levels of responsibility as your experience and professional knowledge grow.
We will support the successful candidate in working towards a recognised professional accountancy qualification.
Key Responsibilities
As you develop your experience and career with us, your responsibilities will grow. Initial responsibilities will include:
Bank Management
- Assist with daily banking transactions
- Assist with bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Ensure financial records are accurate and up to date
- Assist with cash and banking administration
Accounts Payable
- Process and code supplier invoices
- Check invoices and supporting documentation
- Assist with supplier statement reconciliations
- Assist with BACS payment runs
- Maintain accurate purchase ledger records
Accounts Receivable
- Generate and process customer invoices
- Monitor outstanding customer balances
- Assist with credit control and customer account queries
- Maintain accurate sales ledger records
Month-End Support
- Assist with month-end preparation and reconciliations
- Assist with journals and other month-end processes
- Support the Finance & Commercial Director with month-end activities
- Develop an understanding of management accounts and financial reporting
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare accurate reports and information for the Finance and Sales teams
- Assist with analysis of financial information
- Assist with general finance administration and ad-hoc reporting as required
- Develop an understanding of how financial information supports commercial decision-making
Professional Development
- Develop practical accounting and commercial skills through on-the-job training
- Build knowledge of accounting processes, controls and financial reporting
- Work towards relevant professional accountancy examinations
- Take increasing responsibility as knowledge, confidence and experience develop
About You
We are looking for a graduate who is ambitious, organised, proactive and keen to develop a career in accountancy.
You will be comfortable working with numbers, have excellent attention to detail and be keen to learn. You will also have the confidence to ask questions, take responsibility for your work, and to work collaboratively as part of a small finance team.
The successful applicant will have:
- A degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, Maths, or a related subject
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in accountancy
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to prioritise and manage your own workload
- A willingness to learn and to develop new skills
- The confidence to work independently when required
- A positive, energetic approach and willingness to support colleagues
- The ability to work effectively as part of a small and friendly team
- The right to work in the United Kingdom
Relevant placement, part-time work or other practical experience would be advantageous.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Accountancy, Business, Maths or a related discipline
- A strong academic record
- Experience using a computerised accounting system would be advantageous
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
