FIRE DOOR ENGINEER
Target Maintenance GB Ltd | Passive Fire Protection
Why Target Maintenance
We're a Bedfordshire-based property maintenance and compliance contractor working across maintenance, fire safety and electrical. Our clients are some of the UK's largest managing agents and property owners — which means steady, varied work.
We're FIRAS accredited and hold CHAS, SafeContractor, Constructionline, Avetta and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
Passive fire protection is a growing division here, with real progression for people who want it.
The Role
Install, inspect, repair and certify fire doors so they perform exactly as they're designed to. This is life-safety work — the standard has to be right first time, every time.

- Inspect fire doors in line with BS 8214 and current fire safety standards
- Install new fire door sets and upgrade existing doors to the required fire rating
- Carry out remedial works: leaf adjustments, frame repairs, intumescent and smoke seals, ironmongery, closers, threshold and gap corrections
- Fit and maintain fire-rated ironmongery — hinges, locks, latches, handles, viewers, letter plates and signage
- Work to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, Building Safety Act, Approved Document B, BS 8214 and BS 9999
- Complete detailed digital inspection reports with before-and-after photographic evidence
- Identify defects and recommend the right remedial action
- Deal professionally with clients, site managers and residents
- Leave every work area clean, safe and secure
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience installing, repairing or inspecting fire doors

- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Confidence with handheld digital reporting software
- Genuine attention to detail and strong problem-solving
- Clear communication and a professional manner in occupied buildings
- Full UK driving licence
Qualifications (Desirable)

- CSCS card, Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, Working at Height, First Aid at Work
