About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sewage Pump & Treatment Plant Service Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of sewage pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, control panels, and associated electrical and mechanical equipment. These tasks are at customers' site across the country.
This is a field-based role requiring a practical engineer with strong electrical and mechanical experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and repair sewage pumping stations and wastewater treatment systems.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults on pumps, motors, control panels, and associated equipment.
- Install new pumping systems, treatment plants, and control equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and emergency breakdown callouts.
- Test and inspect electrical systems, including control panels, floats, sensors, and alarms.
- Perform pump removals, replacements, and overhauls.
- Complete site reports, service records, and risk assessments accurately.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Liaise professionally with customers, site managers, and office staff and managing the servicing diary / schedule.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working with sewage pumps, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, or related water industry equipment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and mechanical maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
- Experience with motors, pumps, control panels, float switches, level controls, and telemetry systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
- Electrical testing and inspection qualifications.
- Confined Space Entry certification.
