Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cattery Assistant to join our team. This role involves caring for cats in a professional environment, ensuring their wellbeing and comfort while providing excellent customer service to pet owners. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Animal care knowledge is highly desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to contribute positively to the lives of animals and their owners in a supportive setting.
Duties
- Provide daily care for cats, including feeding, cleaning, and administering medication as required
- Maintain clean and hygienic cattery environments, ensuring all areas are sanitised regularly
- Monitor cats for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to senior staff promptly
- Assist with the intake and discharge of cats, ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping
- Offer excellent customer service by answering questions from pet owners and providing updates on their animals’ wellbeing
- Handle heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving supplies or assisting with the organisation of cattery equipment
- Support team members in maintaining a safe and organised workspace at all times
Qualifications
- Prior experience in animal handling is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Genuine passion for animal welfare and care
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required
- Organised with excellent attention to detail in record keeping and daily routines
- Reliable team player capable of working independently when needed
- Flexibility to work shifts that may include weekends or holidays if required
- Own Transport essential due to Cattery location
