“There is no greater joy than supporting people to remain living independently in their own home.”
Hummingbird Home Care Ltd is a family-run service seeking compassionate and caring individuals to join our team.
You will support a range of people, including older adults and individuals with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and health conditions. Your role will be to promote each person’s independence, dignity, choice and wellbeing within their own home.
Due to the personal-care requirements of the role and the privacy and dignity needs of the people we support, this position is open to female applicants only. This is a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing personal care
- Preparing meals and drinks
- Administering medication
- Completing light household duties
- Supporting clients to access the community
- Offering companionship and a listening ear
- Completing accurate care records
You must be warm, friendly, patient and compassionate, with a genuine commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
Training and development
Previous care experience is not essential, as comprehensive training is provided.
Your induction will include online learning, face-to-face training with our in-house trainer and supported shadow shifts with an experienced senior support worker. You will only begin working independently once both you and your mentor are confident in your ability.
We will support you to complete the Care Certificate within your first three months. After six months’ employment, you may also have the opportunity to undertake a funded Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
