Purpose of Position
To ensure the smooth running of the home in the absence of the manager. To maintain the provision of a quality of a care service to the residents, by working together and leading the other staff members in retaining their dignity, independence and individuality.
To work together with other professionals in fulfilling the maximum potential of each resident; helping to create a happy, homely, stimulating atmosphere and in the general activities of the home.
To help train junior members of staff in all aspects of their work in the home.
Be able to do both day and night duty for training and monitoring purpose.
Principal Responsibilities
Taking handover from previous shift, checking the diary and communication book
Checking vulnerable/ill residents with person-in-charge of previous shift
Allocate and instruct staff their duties as per key working system/additional duties
Help to ensure that all junior and domestic staff contributes to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere.
Proficient administration of medication
Monthly reviews of residents care plans and risk assessments, including mental capacity and make changes when necessary to ensure they are always active.
To ensure that all audits are done and up to date e.g., food/fluid intake charts, weights, bath, GP appts, hospital visits, dentist, district nurse etc….
Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting
Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of care users through talking to them, taking them out, and sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
Liaise with other professionals as required e.g., GP, DN, Social worker, etc…
Liaise with residents` relatives/advocates; informing them of accidents, hospital admission, illness and death.
Calling for emergency services as appropriate e.g., ambulance, fire or police. Informing the proprietor immediately and CQC within 24 hours.
Ensure that residents receive a quality care service, are well groomed and the home is clean at all times through quality control checks per shift.
Ensure there is adequate staff cover for the next shift if anyone is to report sick.
Ensure a comprehensive handover report on each resident is given to the person in charge for the following shift.
Partaking in staff and residents` meeting and attending required training sessions when allocated
Ensure all staff complies to the policies and procedures of the home and that of health and safety at all times.

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
