About Us
Tindall Property Services is a growing construction, refurbishment and property maintenance contractor delivering projects for commercial and residential clients across London, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Part-Time Construction Estimator to join our team and support the pricing and tendering of new projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a flexible part-time position while taking responsibility for estimating a varied range of construction and refurbishment works.
The Role
Working closely with our Construction Director, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive quotations for projects ranging from smaller maintenance and refurbishment works through to larger planned and tendered projects.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules of works and tender documents
- Visiting clients and sites to obtain site specific information
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and quotations
- Producing labour, material and subcontractor cost build-ups
- Completing take-offs and quantity measurements
- Obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying potential risks, exclusions and opportunities within tender documents
- Preparing tender submissions and quotation breakdowns
- Maintaining and developing our internal Schedule of Rates
- Reviewing historical project costs to improve estimating accuracy
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and the operational team
- Assisting with value engineering and alternative specifications where appropriate
- Supporting the handover of successfully tendered projects to the delivery team
About You
We are looking for someone with previous estimating experience within the construction industry, ideally with exposure to refurbishment, planned maintenance, property maintenance or general building works.
You should have:
- Previous experience as a Construction Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role
- A good understanding of construction methods, materials and labour requirements
- Experience producing detailed construction quotations
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- The ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and schedules of works
- Good commercial awareness
- Strong attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple quotations at different stages
Experience with tender portals, estimating software and Schedule of Rates contracts would be beneficial but is not essential.
