weekends, redesigning a surgical pathway to improve efficiency, or taking on full end-to-end
management of a specific specialty or waiting list. As demand for our services continues to
grow, we are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Business Development Executive to join
our commercial team and support our next phase of expansion.
The Role
This is an excellent Junior-Mid level opportunity for someone looking to build or accelerate a
career in healthcare business development. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director,
you will support the identification and development of new business opportunities across
NHS organisations, helping The Surgical Consortium expand its reach and impact.
You will work closely with the Commercial Director and wider commercial team to research
opportunities, engage with NHS stakeholders and contribute to the development of
proposals and presentations. This role offers structured mentorship, hands-on learning and
clear progression pathways within a rapidly growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Support
- Support the Commercial Director in identifying and developing new business opportunities across NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs).
- Assist in the generation and management of a pipeline of new business opportunities across the UK, spanning clinical insourcing, and all specialties
- Conduct research into NHS organisations, their operational priorities and potential areas where The Surgical Consortium can add value through insourcing
- Help identify opportunities to support elective recovery programmes, waiting list initiatives, theatre utilisation improvements and full end-to-end pathway management.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, opportunities and business development activity through CRM systems.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support the Commercial Director in preparing for and attending client meetings, industry events and conferences.
- Assist in building and nurturing relationships with NHS stakeholders at operational and service levels.
- Help coordinate follow-up activity with prospective and existing NHS partners.
- Represent The Surgical Consortium professionally in all external interactions.
Research & Market Intelligence
- Research NHS priorities, national policy developments and local healthcare
strategies to identify business development opportunities.
- Monitor the NHS landscape, including elective recovery targets, insourcing frameworks, procurement routes and commissioning intentions.
- Develop an understanding of NHS clinical pathways and how full pathway management solutions can be applied to different specialties and waiting list challenges.
- Compile market intelligence and present findings to the commercial team to inform strategy.
- Track competitor activity and sector developments to support informed business decision-making.
Proposals & Presentations
- Support the preparation of high-quality proposals, presentations and business cases.
- Assist in developing tender responses and expressions of interest.
- Help collate case studies, data and supporting materials for client-facing documents.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial templates and materials.
What We Are Looking For
Essential

- Confidence in building professional relationships at all levels.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
Desirable
- Some experience in a business development, sales support, account management or similar commercial role.
- Experience working within or alongside the NHS or wider healthcare sector.
- Understanding of NHS structures, ICBs, elective recovery, clinical insourcing or healthcare service delivery.
- Familiarity with NHS clinical pathways, surgical services or patient pathway management.
- Exposure to CRM systems and business development reporting.
- Experience supporting the preparation of proposals, tenders or presentations.
- Embraces the use of AI tools to enhance outreach effectiveness, identify opportunities and sharpen commercial decision-making

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
