Hours: 30hours a week (worked over 4 days. Must be able to work 9-5pm on Fridays)
Overview
We are seeking for a detail-oriented and organised Finance Assistant to join our finance team. In this role, you will handle daily cash flow, assist with month-end routines, and coordinate our payroll and pension processes. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves numbers, can meet deadlines, and wants to expand on their accounting knowledge, within a small family run business.
Duties
Cashflow management
Monitoring all bank accounts and credit cards
Assist with bank reconciliations
Preparation of month-end processes to include the profit & loss for the group, reporting on variances
Importing of data from the nursery database
Income versus occupancy reporting
Preparation, collation and checking of all payroll data for two branches
Preparation of pension contribution reports
Assist with purchase ledger duties
Answering of telephone calls, dealing with customer queries and directing where necessary
Knowledge of the nursery database and providing support to the Finance team
Liaising with parents regarding Government funded hours and administration of this process
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Strong customer service skills, excellent telephone manner essential
Intermediate knowledge of using MS Excel
Knowledge of Sage 50 would be desirable
Able to work effectively under pressure, make decisions and use own initiative
Must have organisational skills, and be able to plan own workload
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confidentiality and discretion are a must
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Works well within a team
Some flexibility regarding working hours for covering leave and meeting demands of monthly workloads and processes
A solid understanding of basic double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, and prepayments.
Desirable but not essential part accounting qualification (Bookkeeping or AAT)
Must complete training to maintain Pennies standards to maintain their own CPD
Pay: £29,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
