About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Freelance Health & Social Care Assessor to support learners completing the Adult Social Care Certificate Level 2 and the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced assessor who is passionate about developing the next generation of care professionals and enjoys supporting learners through their qualification journey.
The successful candidate will have a strong occupational background in health and social care, along with experience in vocational assessment and learner support. You will be confident working independently, managing your own caseload, and using digital platforms to assess and collect learner evidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and assess the Adult Social Care Certificate Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care qualifications.
- Manage a caseload of learners, providing ongoing support, guidance, and assessment.
- Carry out learner assessments through a range of methods, including professional discussions, observations, questioning, and digital evidence review.
- Support learners to build and submit evidence using online portfolios and digital assessment platforms.
- Conduct workplace observations and assess practical competence within health and social care settings.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support learner progress and achievement.
- Maintain accurate assessment records and ensure all learner documentation meets awarding organisation requirements.
- Work collaboratively with employers, learners, and quality teams to maintain high assessment standards.
About You
You will have:
- A recognised assessor qualification such as TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/D33, or equivalent.
- A proven occupational background in adult health and social care.
- Experience assessing vocational qualifications within the care sector.
- Knowledge of current adult social care standards, legislation, and best practice.
- Confidence using digital platforms, e-portfolios, and online systems for evidence collection and assessment.
- Strong communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own learner caseload effectively.
- Willingness and ability to travel within a reasonable distance.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering or assessing higher level adult social care qualifications.
- Experience working with awarding organisations and quality assurance processes.
- IQA experience or willingness to support quality improvement activities.
