Job Purpose
We are currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who are non-verbal within a specialist setting in Washwood Heath.
This rewarding Teaching Assistant role involves supporting pupils with communication, sensory, and social interaction needs to access learning and develop independence using alternative communication methods.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
- Provide 1:1 and small group TA support for pupils with non-verbal autism
- Support communication through PECS, visual aids, and communication devices
- Assist pupils with sensory regulation strategies
- Support structured learning and daily routines
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Promote engagement, independence, and wellbeing
Person Requirements
- Experience supporting autism and communication needs
- Patient, calm, and nurturing approach
- Understanding of sensory needs and communication strategies
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two satisfactory references
Qualifications

Relevant experience required, including:
- Support work
- Care work
- Tutoring
- Teaching Assistant work
- SEND school experience
