RETAIL SALES ASSISTANT - Trentham Store
PAU Run & Ride's flagship store at Trentham Shopping Village is busier than ever, especially at the weekends; so busy in fact, that we need to expand our sales teams to meet the increase in demand! (We're also recruiting a part time position, so if full time is too much, look out for that ad too!)
Our ideal candidate will be a keen cyclist and/or runner who's keen to share their knowledge and passion for the sports with our growing customer base by contributing to the delivery of a world class customer experience in our store.
If you're a regular runner and/or cyclist who's actively involved in your local running/cycling community, you may well be our ideal candidate! To be perfect for the role, you'll also have a mature demeanor and be confident talking to customers about their running and cycling preferences and able to match that to our product range. If you've also got experience undertaking gait analysis that'd be fantastic (we can train you on that part though)!
If you are outgoing, enthusiastic and maybe already have some retail experience, then we want to hear from you. If you also know a bit about cycle maintenance, gait analysis and the importance of getting the right fit with your equipment, sportswear and footwear then we can't wait to hear from you!
Job Details:
We need a confident and knowledgeable sales assistant to work full time (including at least one weekend day) with flexibility to work additional hours to support at particularly busy times and during promotions, sales and live sports events.
We're happy to agree a regular shift rota with our chosen candidate or, if you're prefect for us but need some flexibility, we can talk about that too; either way, as part of a small team, commitment and flexibility are essential; whilst we need you to be flexible to help us run a great business, we’re flexible wherever we can be too!
You’ll have 5.6 weeks annual leave per holiday year (28 days including bank holiday allowance), which may be taken as paid leave by arrangement with the store manager.
Salary Expectations & Benefits:
Starting salary will be £26,509.50 per annum (based on £12.71/hr) and you'll be paid 1/12th of your annual salary on the last Friday of each calendar month. Our staff also enjoy generous discounts on all our goods, and are at the front of the queue when suppliers share promotional goods. PAU has a cafe right next door to the shop where you can enjoy discounted food and beverages whist at work or when visiting socially.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Key holder responsibility.
- Greet clients in store with enthusiasm and establish rapport to quickly and efficiently identify their needs
- After training, undertake gait analysis and recommend brands/styles to meet the customer's specific requirements
- Demonstrate products instore and seek out opportunities to upsell and cross sell where possible
- Guide and support the customer to make informed choices when selecting the products that best meet their needs
- Close sales and promote after sales services such as cycle repairs, maintenance, etc
- Maintain shop floor displays, ensuring stock is always available, keep the store looking clean and sharp and contribute proactively to the management of stock and storage areas
- Other store duties as may from time to time be directed by the store manager.
Essential:
- A friendly, approachable demeanor - a confident people person!
- Great communication skills (and we mean GREAT communication skills!)
- A keen runner and/or cyclist with a clear understanding of the sport(s)
- Ability to create a memorable first impression by acknowledging customers who come into our store and able to approach them with confidence and enthusiasm.
- A team player who's self-motivated and able to use your own initiative.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a customer service environment
- Experience in basic cycle maintenance
- Experience undertaking gait analysis
