Here's the revised version — the key change is spelling out how Science splits across the key stages, so applicants know what they'd actually be teaching:
About Us
At Tuition Republic, we support students aged 5–16 with Maths, English, and Science tuition. Our goal is to provide a positive and structured learning environment where students grow in confidence, improve their skills, and achieve their academic goals.
About the Role
We're currently looking for a Science Tutor to join our team on weekends. You'll be working with students aged 5–16, helping them build a strong understanding of Science in line with the National Curriculum.
At KS1–KS3, this means teaching general Science across all topics. At KS4, students study Biology, Chemistry, and Physics — either as GCSE Combined Science or as separate sciences — so you'll need to be comfortable teaching across all three, with the confidence to explain key concepts, work through exam-style questions, and prepare students for their GCSEs.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong subject knowledge and a passion for education. Whether you're a university student, graduate, or have tutoring experience, we're looking for someone confident, professional, and reliable.
What We're Looking For
- Strong academic background in Science — A-levels in at least one science subject (or higher, e.g. a science-related degree) preferred
- Confident teaching Science across KS1–KS3, and Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at KS4 (Combined and/or separate sciences)
- Secure knowledge of the GCSE Science specifications (e.g. AQA, Edexcel) is desirable
- Experience working with children is desirable
- Friendly, approachable, and able to motivate students
- Punctual, organised, and able to work independently
- Able to commute to E17 5DP within 30 minutes
Pay Structure
We offer competitive hourly rates based on age:
- Under 18s: £8 per hour
- Aged 18–20: £10.85 per hour
- Aged 21+: £12.71 per hour
All pay is above national minimum wage. Rates may vary slightly based on qualifications and experience.
Why Join Us?
- Make a real impact on young learners
- Be part of a supportive and friendly team
- Gain valuable teaching experience
- Smart casual dress code
- On-site parking
- Regular hours that fit around studies or other commitments
To Apply
Please only apply if you live within a 30-minute commute of E17 5DP.
We welcome applicants who are passionate about teaching, reliable, and committed to helping students succeed. If you're stronger in one science than the others, please mention this in your application.
Work Location: In person at Walthamstow Academy
A couple of thoughts: I added the line asking applicants to flag their stronger science — it helps you filter (e.g. someone great at Biology but shaky on Physics) without putting people off applying. If you'd rather require all three sciences at a high level, I can tighten that up instead. Also worth deciding whether you'd accept a tutor who can only cover Combined Science (not triple) — happy to adjust the wording either way.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
Application question(s):
- Do you live within a 30-minute commute of E17 5DP (Walthamstow, London)?
- Are you currently a secondary school (Year 11), sixth-form, or college student?
