We are recruiting a kitchen assistant who would also be trained to stand in for the chef (making simple meals) to cover annual leave.

Requirements
- Experience preferred
- Experience in a care home kitchen preferred
Responsibilities for
- You will be provided training to be a KP for the Chef. This will involve helping to prep and present food. You will prepare breakfast including porridge. You will need to be aware of the residents dietary needs including consistency of food e.g. providing puried food if swallow is an issue. You will load the dishwasher and wash pot and pans. It will be your responsibility to keep the kitchen clean. You will assist with the tea and snack trolley. You will assist with unpacking food orders.
- Further enhanced training to step in for the chef. When the Chef is unavailable, the KP will be required to step up and cover the Chef's duties, including:
- Preparing and cooking meals in accordance with the planned menu.
- Following residents' dietary, allergy and texture-modified requirements.
- Ensuring meals are prepared and served at the required times.
- Maintaining appropriate food safety and hygiene standards.
- Completing relevant kitchen records and temperature checks.
- Managing kitchen duties and prioritising tasks during the Chef's absence.
- Liaising with care staff regarding meal requirements and any changes needed.
- Reporting any concerns, shortages or issues to the Home Manager or appropriate senior person.
