About the Role
Nuwairah’s is looking for an experienced Japanese Sushi & Hot Food Chef to join our growing kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy restaurant and takeaway, preparing high-quality Japanese cuisine while maintaining excellent food standards and consistency.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about Japanese food, works well under pressure, and takes pride in delivering exceptional dishes every service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide range of sushi including nigiri, maki, uramaki, sashimi and speciality rolls.
- Prepare Japanese hot food including ramen, donburi, katsu, tempura, teriyaki, karaage and other cooked dishes.
- Maintain excellent food presentation and consistency.
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards are followed.
- Manage stock, food rotation and minimise waste.
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and service-ready.
- Work efficiently during busy restaurant and takeaway service.
- Support the Head Chef and work closely with the kitchen team.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Japanese Sushi & Hot Food Chef is essential.
- Strong knife skills and sushi preparation experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work evenings and weekends.
- Right to work in the UK.
