JOB TITLE: Software Engineer – Stockbroking Lab (.Net & ASP)
SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £45,954 - £51,060
LOCATION: Leeds or Edinburgh
HOURS: 35 hours, full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
As a Software Engineer within the Stockbroking Lab, you’ll collaborate with agile teams to drive iterative change safely for the Group and our customers. You’ll work on a variety of initiatives, ensuring that the products we deliver meet quality standards and positively impact our customers. Your role will involve turning requirements into actionable stories, managing code changes, and contributing to the production release process.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in agile ceremonies (daily team synchronization, backlog planning, prioritization, and retrospectives)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Customer Journey Managers, Product Owners, Technical Delivery Managers and other Software Engineers
Support build and test processes
Assist with live planning and address service incidents
Productionising code via our DevOps pipeline
Apply problem-solving skills to find innovative solutions
You must be happy to support the on-call rota for applications within your area of technical expertise.

What you’ll need
A strong, proven, and consistent track record when developing in Microsoft technologies (.NET and ASP)
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
Experience in managing source code with GitHub
Experience in DevOps tooling (Jenkins, Urban Code and Sonarqube)
Additional expertise: Any experience with React or Node.js would be beneficial
Strong problem-solving abilities related to code and database performance.
Ability to translate business requirements into technical stories and communicate updates effectively.
Willingness to take on tasks beyond your engineering discipline to support team goals.
Comfort working in a multi-disciplinary team, engaging with product owners, fellow engineers, and technical delivery managers
And any experience of these would be really useful
Any experience in Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle RAC technology and shell scripting in Linux would be beneficial
Understanding of agile tools to manage feature team activity (JIRA and Confluence)
Experience integrating applications with 3rd party owned systems and shared Group services
Knowledge of governance practices to ensure safe change implementation.
