Responsible Individual (RI) – Children’s Residential Home Location: Bognor Regis, West Sussex Job Type: Ad hoc / Flexible Salary: £300–£500 per day, depending on experience and responsibilities Hours: Ad hoc – flexible arrangement Esthod Care Services Ltd is preparing to register a new 4-bed EBD children’s residential home in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, and we are looking for an experienced Responsible Individual (RI) to join us on an ad hoc/flexible basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children's social care professional who wants to provide strategic oversight and regulatory leadership without committing to a full-time position. The Role As Responsible Individual, you will provide oversight of the children's home and work closely with the Registered Manager and senior management team to ensure the home operates safely, effectively and in accordance with Ofsted requirements and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015. The role will include: - Providing appropriate oversight and governance of the children's home. - Supporting the Registered Manager in maintaining high standards of care. - Ensuring the home operates in accordance with Ofsted regulations and relevant legislation. - Monitoring safeguarding, children's welfare and quality of care. - Reviewing policies, procedures and compliance systems. - Providing challenge and support to the Registered Manager. - Monitoring the home's progress towards and following Ofsted registration. - Reviewing audits, incidents, complaints and safeguarding matters. - Supporting preparation for Ofsted inspections and regulatory requirements. - Attending management meetings and providing strategic guidance when required. - Maintaining effective communication with the Registered Manager and company directors. - Undertaking RI visits/reviews on an agreed ad hoc basis. About You We are looking for an individual with: - Significant experience within children's residential social care. - A strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and children's home legislation. - Previous experience as a Responsible Individual, Registered Manager, senior children's social care professional or equivalent. - Strong safeguarding knowledge. - Excellent leadership, governance and quality-assurance skills. - Experience supporting or preparing a children's home for Ofsted registration is highly desirable. - The ability to work independently and provide constructive challenge to management. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - A professional, proactive and reliable approach. Ad Hoc Working Arrangement This position is particularly suitable for someone who: - Is currently working as an RI/Registered Manager and is looking for additional flexible work. - Has experience in children's residential care and wants to undertake consultancy-style RI work. - Does not want a full-time RI commitment. - Is available for agreed visits, meetings, audits and regulatory support as required. The exact frequency of work will be agreed with the successful candidate and may increase during the Ofsted registration and mobilisation period.
