We are seeking two experienced paralegals to join our Immigration and Family Law Department. The successful candidates will assist the Principal Solicitor and other solicitors with publicly and privately funded immigration, asylum and family law matters.
Applicants must have sufficient practical experience to work independently, manage an allocated caseload and progress matters with minimal supervision. They must be able to identify and comply with relevant procedural requirements, court and tribunal directions, limitation periods and other case deadlines. They must also know when a matter requires referral to a supervising solicitor.
Salary: £25,000–£33,000 per annum, depending on experience, qualifications, accreditation and demonstrated ability to manage matters independently. Candidates with substantial relevant experience or Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme accreditation will ordinarily be considered towards the upper end of the salary range.
Membership of the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme at Level 1 or above is highly desirable. Candidates who are not presently accredited must demonstrate relevant immigration and asylum experience and a genuine commitment to obtaining IAAS accreditation within an agreed period.
Experience of legal aid work is desirable. This should include familiarity with Legal Aid Agency requirements and the ability to prepare, submit and progress legal aid applications both electronically and, where required, outside the online systems.
Candidates must be able to commute reliably to our Watford office. Applications are also welcome from candidates who are willing and able to relocate promptly.
