The Clinical Lead will provide senior clinical leadership for the CNWL Specialist Hub for Integrated Neurodevelopmental Evaluation (SHINE) service for children and young people. This is a new and exciting clinical pathway, reflecting best national practice guidance as well as maximising digital innovation.
The postholder will support the safe delivery of autism and ADHD assessment pathways with particular responsibility for psychological practice, diagnostic governance, clinical quality assurance and professional leadership of psychology within the service.
The postholder will act as a senior source of psychological and neurodevelopmental expertise. The role will support complex diagnostic formulation and decision-making, reduce unwarranted variation in practice and promote consistent implementation of agreed clinical standards across boroughs and multidisciplinary teams. The postholder will work with and seek advice from appropriately qualified medical colleagues where medical input is needed.
The team is developing: we have recently created a new single point of access based in Victoria London for new referrals that come in and are currently confirming the locations for the three geographical hubs in which assessments will take place; in inner and outer London as well as Milton Keynes. - To act as the Clinical lead for SHINE, providing clinical leadership for autism and ADHD assessment practice across the service.
- To support the safe, effective, equitable and timely delivery of neurodevelopmental assessment pathways across participating boroughs and multidisciplinary teams.
- The post holder may provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation, consultation and intervention for children and young people with complex neurodevelopmental presentations, including where there is diagnostic uncertainty, co-occurring need or significant clinical risk.
- To provide expert advice and consultation to clinicians undertaking autism and ADHD assessments and to support complex multidisciplinary formulation and decision-making.
- To work with appropriately qualified medical and multidisciplinary colleagues where presentations require medical, psychiatric, neurological, developmental or other specialist assessment or opinion.
- To support or chair complex case discussions where this is appropriate to the postholder’s expertise and agreed SHINE governance arrangements.
- To promote psychologically informed, neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based and evidence-based practice throughout SHINE.
- To ensure that services are anti-discriminatory, acceptable, accessible and responsive to the diverse communities served by SHINE, reducing health inequalities.
The Trust is made up of three operational divisions as well as the corporate team. Each division has a managing director, nursing and medical director in a triumvirate structure. This role will be based in Goodall division and will require some travel across a number of London boroughs as well as Milton Keynes as required. You will be part of a senior management team working closely with colleagues across our CAMHS and Child Development Centres. - To provide leadership for the governance and quality of neurodevelopmental assessment, formulation and intervention within SHINE
- To support the development, implementation and review of consistent SHINE clinical pathways, assessment standards, diagnostic frameworks and clinical guidance.
- To promote effective multidisciplinary team functioning, high-quality clinical discussion, shared decision-making and appropriate professional challenge.
- To work with service and local clinical leads to develop a community of practice and a SHINE Clinical Leads Forum that supports engagement, shared learning and consistency across localities.
- To interpret national and local policy, evidence and professional guidance for application within SHINE and to support development and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, standard operating procedures and guidance.
- To ensure relevant NICE guidance and professional standards are reflected within SHINE pathways and practice.
- To support meaningful co-production and engagement with children, young people, families and carers in service development and evaluation.
- To participate in or lead relevant Trust, Divisional and system-wide committees, working groups and strategic initiatives.
- To work with partner services and agencies to develop integrated pathways around the needs of children, young people and families.
