Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Co-ordinator to join our team for 18 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents in a care home setting. This role requires a caring attitude, excellent communication skills, and experience working with older adults, particularly those with dementia or Alzheimer's. The Activities Co-ordinator will play a vital role in fostering a warm, inclusive environment that promotes socialisation, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing.
Duties
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, games, outings, and sensory activities
- Encourage participation from residents while respecting individual preferences and needs
- Maintain activity schedules and ensure activities are accessible and enjoyable for all residents
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ needs and adapt activities accordingly
- Document participation and feedback to monitor residents’ engagement and wellbeing
- Support residents during activities to promote social interaction and independence
- Assist in creating a warm, welcoming environment that fosters community spirit within the care home
Skills
- Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer’s care is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults
- Organised with the ability to plan diverse activities that cater to varying abilities and interests
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing needs and preferences
