Thomas & Thomas Solicitors are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Conveyancing Assistant to join our busy and expanding Conveyancing Department based in our Porthcawl office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with previous conveyancing or legal administrative experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and client-focused law firm.
The successful candidate will provide administrative and practical support to fee earners dealing with residential conveyancing transactions, ensuring that clients receive a professional and efficient service throughout their transaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting fee earners with residential conveyancing transactions from instruction through to completion.
- Opening new files and carrying out onboarding procedures.
- Obtaining and reviewing client identification documents and undertaking compliance checks.
- Preparing correspondence and legal documentation.
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and other solicitors.
- Requesting searches and obtaining title documentation.
- Dealing with telephone and email enquiries.
- Maintaining accurate file records and updating the case management system.
- Assisting with exchange and completion procedures.
- Preparing completion statements and related documentation.
- General administrative duties to support the conveyancing team.
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous legal secretarial, legal assistant or conveyancing assistant experience preferred.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and client care skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and manage competing priorities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional and positive attitude.
Desirable
- Previous experience within a residential conveyancing department.
- Experience of using case management systems.
- Knowledge of the conveyancing process from instruction through to completion.
