Job Overview
FURMILY is looking for a passionate and experienced Part-Time Cat Groomer to join our growing premium grooming team in London.
We are dedicated to providing a calm, low-stress, and professional grooming experience for every cat. Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone who genuinely understands feline behaviour and enjoys building trusting relationships with both cats and their owners.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern, premium salon alongside a supportive team, with opportunities to grow as our cat grooming service continues to expand.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional cat grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, de-matting, sanitary trims, lion clips (where appropriate), nail trimming and ear cleaning.
- Handle cats calmly, safely and confidently using low-stress handling techniques.
- Assess each cat before grooming and adapt the grooming plan according to the cat's temperament, coat condition, age and health.
- Monitor cats throughout the grooming process and prioritise their welfare at all times, recognising when a groom should be modified or discontinued for safety.
- Provide professional consultations with owners before and after appointments, discussing grooming options, coat maintenance and aftercare.
- Identify any abnormalities such as skin irritation, parasites, lumps or wounds and communicate observations professionally to owners where appropriate.
- Maintain excellent hygiene standards and ensure all grooming equipment and workstations are cleaned and sanitised after every appointment.
- Keep accurate grooming records and appointment notes.
- Work closely with the wider FURMILY team to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
- Help maintain a welcoming, clean and organised salon environment.
What We're Looking For
- Previous professional cat grooming experience (minimum 1 year preferred).
- Confident handling cats with different personalities, including nervous, elderly and matted cats.
- Excellent understanding of feline behaviour, coat types and grooming techniques.
- Calm, patient and compassionate with exceptional attention to animal welfare.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Able to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team.
- Reliable, organised and able to manage appointments efficiently.
- Comfortable working in a busy salon environment while maintaining high grooming standards.
- Relevant grooming qualifications are desirable but practical experience will also be considered.
- Experience with difficult cats, de-matting, lion clips and low-stress handling is highly advantageous.
