Assistant Management Accountant
Chelford Farm Supplies is looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to join our growing family-owned business.
Based in the heart of Cheshire, Chelford Farm Supplies is one of the county’s largest suppliers of equestrian clothing and footwear, farm supplies, agricultural products, feed, and garden and forest machinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts person to join a busy finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Director and working closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
The successful candidate will support the production of monthly management accounts, assist with key reporting processes, reconcile and post bank reconciliations, manage a range of payment reconciliations, and help identify opportunities to improve efficiency across the business. They will also be flexible and willing to support other areas of the accounts function when required.
Key Responsibilities
The role will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Posting journals and supporting month-end reporting
- Producing variance analysis and financial reports
- Completing VAT returns
- Reconciling payment types including Apple Pay, PayPal, card payments, bank transfers and other online payment methods
- Reconciling and posting bank reconciliations
- Analysing data and providing recommendations to improve efficiencies and reduce costs
- Supporting accurate and timely reporting across the wider finance function
- Working closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and the wider finance team
- Providing flexible support across other areas of the accounts function when required
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has 2 to 5 years’ experience in a similar finance or accounting role
- Is AAT qualified, part-qualified, or has equivalent experience
- Is confident using SAP or another accounting system
- Has experience reconciling and posting bank reconciliations
- Has experience reconciling online and in store payment methods, including Apple Pay, PayPal, card payments and bank receipts
- Has strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and handling large amounts of data
- Has excellent keyboard and data entry skills
- Communicates clearly
- Can work independently, use initiative and manage their own workload
- Is flexible and willing to support other areas of the accounts function when required
- Has a proactive approach to improving processes and supporting business performance
- Is keen to contribute to the continued growth and success of the business
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm, office based.
