Job Description:
Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Setter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in plastic injection moulding in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Setter will be responsible for preparing and setting up machines and equipment for production processes, ensuring that all specifications are met for quality and efficiency.
NOTE: This is an engineering role, not a machine operator role. Experience is required for setting plastic injection moulding machines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Set-Up & Operation
· Set and prepare injection moulding machines and associated equipment to required specifications
· Load mould tools and dies using SMED principles
· Adjust machine settings to maintain optimal processing conditions
2. Process Control & Improvement
· Carry out process monitoring checks using SPC techniques
· Identify process issues and implement improvements
· Support introduction of new materials, products, and technologies
3. Quality & Standards
· Ensure adherence to quality control procedures
· Monitor product output to maintain specification and reduce scrap
· Follow product flow charts and moulding concern procedures
4. Health, Safety & Housekeeping
· Maintain a clean, safe working area at all times
· Follow all equipment safety procedures and safe systems of work
· Adhere to PPE and Health & Safety requirements
5. Teamwork & Communication
· Work effectively with production and development teams
· Communicate issues and updates clearly to relevant stakeholders
· Complete required documentation and records accurately
6. General Responsibilities
· Ensure production downtime is minimised and machine uptime maximised
· Undertake additional duties as required to support operations
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Mechanical and engineering knowledge
Ability to troubleshoot and work independently
Good communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of polymer materials and processing behaviour
Desirable
Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, and SMED techniques
Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Relevant NVQ Level 2 or engineering apprenticeship
Health & Safety Responsibilities

4On-4Off Shift Pattern - 6AM - 6PM
