Job Summary
Day Senior. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Carer Assistant to provide high-quality care and support to residents in a care home setting. The successful candidate will assist with daily activities, medication administration, and behavioural management, ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about senior care and looking to make a positive difference in people's lives. Prior experience in nursing homes or home care is highly desirable. Must withhold level 2 NVQ this position is for care assistant but will be required to cover senior shifts for holidays and sickness
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming in accordance with care plans
- Support residents with mobility and perform heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Administer medication accurately following prescribed instructions and medical terminology guidelines
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with meal service
- Monitor and record residents’ health status, behaviour, and progress as part of case management
- Implement behaviour management strategies to support residents with dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Contribute to the development and review of personalised care plans in collaboration with the nursing team
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, promoting a caring environment
- Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment
- Support the team with hospice care needs where applicable
- Drive residents when required for appointments or outings, ensuring safe transportation
Requirements
- Previous experience in a care home or home care setting, particularly with senior or dementia patients
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and care planning processes
- First aid certification is essential; additional training in Alzheimer's or dementia care is advantageous
- Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques for elderly residents with cognitive impairments
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility support
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and professionalism
- Valid driving licence preferred for transportation duties
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple residents' needs effectively
