Job description
The ideal candidate is a well presented, polite and empathetic team player who will be the first point of contact for pet owners visiting the clinic. As the 'face' of the clinic, we are looking for someone who possesses a genuine passion for customer service, a positive energy, and who strives to provide a great client experience every time.

Working pattern
- 32.25hrs/week spread across 3 shifts Monday to Friday.
- 10am-1pm every other Sunday (1 in 2 weekends) and 1 Saturday shift every 6 weeks.
This role is highly varied with diverse responsibilities beyond simply answering phones and scheduling appointments. We actively encourage study towards formal veterinary client care/receptionist qualifications, as well as 'on the job' training by our in-situ team members. Whilst experience in the veterinary sector is not essential, we are looking for someone who has significant face to face and telephony customer service experience, and of course, a passion for all things pets! High standards in written and spoken English are essential. Applicants should expect to work between our 2 branches in Clovenstone (EH14 3BF) and Chesser (EH14 1RL).
Responsibilities
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Consultation and Surgical diary management/Appointment making
- Act as first point of contact for visitors
- Taking Payments and client account administration
- Client communication using instant messaging
- Cashing up and Banking
- Stock control and inventory management
- Promotion of veterinary services such as our Health Plan
- Email response and forwarding
- Dealing with other businesses e.g. drug wholesalers, laboratory, clinical waste and crematorium, clinical referral centres
Qualifications and Must-Haves
- Warm and empathetic manner with a positive attitude are a must
- Calm and collected under pressure
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi task within a fast paced environment
- Ability to work in close quarters with fellow Front of House staff
- Strong clerical and organisational skills
- IT and computer software confidence
