This is an exciting opportunity to join the Leadership team on 4 South as a Band 7 CPD Charge Nurse/Sister on a 12 Month secondment.
4 South is a 36-bedded Respiratory Ward, with 56 staff members. We fundamentally specialise in Cystic Fibrosis, Lung Defence and Pulmonary Vascular Disease, but we do often see other respiratory specialities including patients cared for by our Interstitial Lung Disease team, Thoracic Oncology team and Transplant team.

We are looking for a highly motivated and forward-thinking CPD Sister/Charge Nurse who can provide clinical leadership and excellent clinical skills ensuring continued provision of high-quality nursing care on 4 South. You will be expected to work closely alongside the current Ward Sister to act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
Lead, design and deliver quality clinical skill and development training programmes relevant to respiratory medicine with a key focus on new and existing staff to ensure they are fit for practice.
Lead, develop and deliver CPD training programs in support of staff undertaking defined assessment programs.
Work in the clinical areas to support new starters or those requiring additional support as agreed using learning contracts, action plans and approved assessment tools.
Alongside being the overall lead for education on 4 South there is an expectation that you would support the ward managers in the general running of the ward, supporting with line management, performance management, ensuring safer staffing and being able to undertake a full clinical role on the ward.

Support trust trainings that require a Respiratory Medicine expertise.
Additionally, to be able to undertake a clinical role in the department, providing direct patient care, support coordinating the nursing team and respective skill mix and maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety and operational efficiency.

Professional adult nursing qualification and clinical knowledge acquired through training to diploma or degree level.
PLUS post graduate learning or experience relevant to practice with demonstrable competence OR specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practical experience.
Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council.
To have experience in teaching and training staff and pre-registrant students in the clinical, simulated and classroom environment.
To be a clinical expert within own field of practice.
Ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team as well as mentor and educate junior staff.
Knowledge and application of clinical governance frameworks including Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), policy and procedure, audit and quality assurance.
Knowledge and application of safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly those related to vulnerable patients.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be able to problem solve, use own initiative and plan, organise and prioritise own and others' workload.
Evidence of continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in further training and education.
