Job Overview
The Assistant Farm Manager’s role is to support the Farm Manager, deputising in their absence and assisting with all aspects of running the farm.
The role includes working in the chicken houses and egg packing room, ensuring that staff are organised and follow company procedures, equipment is operating correctly and farm administration is kept up to date.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in chicken farming, the skills needed to help manage the farm effectively and a genuine passion for animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Farm Manager during their rest days and holidays.
- Ensure the welfare of the birds in our care is protected at all times.
- Maintain daily records accurately and report flock performance to the Area Manager.
- Assist with compliance with company and industry audit standards.
- Help ensure staff are organised and company procedures are followed.
- Assist with the day-to-day running of the chicken houses and egg packing room.
- Ensure equipment is operating correctly and report any issues promptly.
- Keep farm administration accurate and up to date.
Skills & Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and able to take responsibility, with:
- Effective time management and personal and team organisation.
- A keen eye for detail.
- The ability to work well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including the use of email and spreadsheets.
- A genuine passion for poultry farming and animal welfare.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in the poultry industry is essential for this role.
- The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Poultry. Training will be provided if the successful candidate does not currently hold this qualification.
