Tarff Valley Ltd is Scotland’s oldest Agricultural Co-operative, established in 1903 and has in excess of 1300 members. Tarff is an Agricultural Merchant supplying the rural community in Southern Scotland, Northern England, Ayrshire and Islay, with a wide range of quality products and services.
We are looking for a Site and Production Manager for our Castle Kennedy Production site where we mix and despatch animal feeds in bulk to customer and company formulations.
Responsibilities
The Site Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable day-to-day operation of the depot. The role combines production planning with the supervision of site operations, coordinating raw materials, manufacturing, stock control, transport planning and customer order fulfilment. The Site Manager is responsible for leading the production team whilst ensuring high standards of health & safety, quality, housekeeping and site security are maintained.
Leadership
- Lead, supervise and develop all employees based at the site.
- Organise daily workloads and allocate resources effectively.
Planning
- Act as the main point of contact for customers and haulage companies to process and plan customer orders responding to enquiries and resolving issues in a professional manner.
- Create, maintain, and adjust daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer orders and stock requirements.
- Monitor stock levels and arrange the ordering of raw materials
- Plan and organise deliveries for 2 HGV vehicles that operate from the site.
Production
- Carry out regular stock checks and investigate any stock discrepancies, and ensure adequate stock levels are held to fulfil orders.
- Ensure all feed is manufactured safely and in accordance with company quality standards, working methods and production procedures.
- Assist in all areas of production when needed.
Weighbridge Supervision and Administration
- Supervise weighbridge staff, ensuring accurate records of incoming and outgoing products are maintained.
- Ensure weighbridge tickets, delivery notes and all compliance documentation are completed accurately and in accordance with UFAS and company procedures.
Additional Duties
- Assist in managing any production or logistical issues that arise during the day.
- Assist in improvement projects and activities, suggesting any improvement that can be made to the processes in place.
- Ensure the site, including production areas, yard and stores, remains clean, organised and maintained to company quality and safety standards.
- Operate forklift and telehandler machinery where required.
- Be a site keyholder, with responsibility of ensuring staff rotas are made.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
- Good IT skills with the ability to use stock, production and ordering systems.
- Comfortable working in a busy agricultural production environment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Awareness of transport legislation and operational requirements.
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Physically fit
- Previous supervisory or management experience within manufacturing, agriculture, logistics or production desirable.
