Graduate Research Assistant / Postdoctoral Research Associate in Public Health Evidence Synthesis

This NIHR funded part-time post (0.4fte) is available from immediately until 30 September 2028. This post is offered as a fixed term contract and is funded by the NIHR until 30 September 2028.
In line with the University’s fair employment for all principles, any further funding opportunities identified will be reviewed and discussed during the contract.
Salary will be from £33,951 (pro rata) on Grade E for the Graduate Research Assistant level, and from £34,610 (pro rata) on Grade E for the Postdoctoral Research Associate level, subject to knowledge, skills and experience.
The Role
Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS)
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant/Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Public Health Review Team in conducting high quality, responsive systematic reviews to support pressing public health issues. This new programme of work represents an exciting opportunity to help conduct innovative evidence syntheses which aim to embed evidence into the development and implementation of health policy.
Please refer to the job description for a full list of duties but in summary responsibilities include conducting and contributing to research tasks such as screening, data extraction, risk of bias assessments, and collaboration with topic experts, patients, and public contributors.
About You
For the Graduate Research Assistant:
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare information and reviews to internal and external bodies.
Applicants will be educated to first degree level in a field relevant to health technology assessment e.g. medical sciences. economics or statistics, or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have an understanding of health policy and policy making processes.
For the Postdoctoral Research Associate:
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have an understanding of health policy and policy making processes.
