We are seeking a caring, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) during their daily travel. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of the children as they travel from home to school in the morning, and back home in the afternoon.
This is a rewarding, term-time only role that is ideal for anyone looking for part-time hours that align with the school calendar.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accompanying SEN children safely from their homes to school in the morning, and returning them home in the afternoon.
- Assisting children with boarding and exiting the vehicle safely.
- Ensuring all safety harnesses, seatbelts, or wheelchair restraints are secure before travel.
- Providing a calm, supportive, and reassuring presence during the journey to help ease any anxiety.
- Managing any behavioral or physical needs that may arise during transit.
- Communicating effectively and professionally with parents, school staff, and the transport driver.
SCHEDULE:
- Monday to Friday, term-time only (no weekend or school holiday work required).
- Split-shift schedule: Approximately 2 hours in the morning (e.g., 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM) and 2 hours in the afternoon (e.g., 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM). exact times will depend on the school route.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A warm, empathetic, and patient personality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with children.
- Outstanding reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- An enhanced DBS check is required for this role (we can assist with this process if you do not already have one on the update service).
- Previous experience working with SEN children or in a caring/supportive role is highly desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
