As Bakery Operations Support Manager, you will work alongside the Bakery Manager as a key hands-on member of the bakery team, supporting the day-to-day running of production while ensuring consistently high standards across all areas.
This role would be great for someone looking to move up the ladder from a Baker! You will lead by example, working directly with the team in the bakery to support production, maintain product quality, and ensure daily operations run efficiently. You will also take responsibility for managing the bakery in the Bakery Managers' absence, including covering days off, holidays, and other periods of leave.
This is a practical, hands-on role with a strong focus on bakery production. You will assist with mixing, baking, finishing, packing, and preparing products as required, ensuring quality, food safety, and presentation standards are consistently met. Alongside supporting production, you will help drive productivity, manage workflow, maintain stock and ingredient availability.
Working closely with the Bakery Manager, you will support staff training and development by training colleagues on the bakery floor. You will also contribute to new product development, assist with implementing new systems and processes, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the bakery.
This is a key operational role designed to strengthen the management team through visible, hands-on leadership, provide continuity in the day-to-day running of the bakery, and help ensure the business is well positioned for future growth while maintaining the high standards expected across every aspect of the operation.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Bakery Manager in the day-to-day running of the bakery.
- Drive productivity and improve production efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations
- Lead new product development and continuous improvement.
- Maintain exceptional hygiene, cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop bakery staff and improving staff morale.
- Coordinate rotas and holiday planning to ensure adequate staffing.
- Help develop systems and processes that enable the bakery to grow.
- Work closely with the Bakery Manager to deliver operational excellence while providing support rather than replacing their role.

Experience:
- Management experience is preferred/essential
- Excellent attention to detail and product quality
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Proven experience in warehouse management, logistics, or similar roles within a bakery or food production environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills
