Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal operational performance. This role requires a strong technical background, practical experience with various repair techniques, and excellent problem-solving skills. The position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse range of equipment and machinery, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our fleet.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs, including trucks, excavators, and forklifts.
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams, applying mechanical knowledge to identify issues accurately.
- Perform repairs involving fabrication, welding, soldering, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Repair or replace components such as brakes, transmissions, engines, and electrical systems.
- Use welding and fabrication skills to modify or repair vehicle structures as required.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service history for each vehicle.
- Assist with equipment assembly and installation tasks as needed.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance schedules.
Experience
- Proven experience working as an HGV Technician or in a similar heavy vehicle repair role.
- Strong electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge is essential.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators or forklifts.
- Experience in equipment repair, maintenance programmes, and heavy lifting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of assembly processes related to heavy machinery is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality assurance.

Pay: £40,000.00 per year
