FLEET STREET CLINIC – LEAD TRAVEL CLINIC NURSE
Full-Time
About Us
The Fleet Street Clinic is a fully resourced, multidisciplinary medical centre, with a long-established, well-known independent specialist Travel Clinic. We are a small, friendly team and offer a stimulating and varied working environment with plenty of opportunity for further training and personal development.
The travel clinic provides pre- and post-travel care to a wide range of leisure and business travellers, often supporting the news media industry working in some of the world's riskiest places. We regularly undertake special projects supporting our corporate clients, ranging from reality TV shows to onsite delivery of workplace flu vaccinations, health programmes for corporate clients and rapid deployment teams. The practice is also active in occupational health, sexual health, and delivering holistic patient care, so other Practice Nurse interests and skills are encouraged and desirable.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, full-time Lead Travel Clinic Nurse (5 days per week, to include “early” and “late” shifts and at least one Saturday per month) to lead our nursing team of three additional nurses as well as our ad hoc and bank nurses. This is a dynamic role that combines hands-on clinical work with administrative oversight and quality assurance responsibility for the department. The position offers ample opportunity for professional development. Salary according to experience.
Typical duties include:
● Leading and developing the nursing team – providing clinical guidance, mentoring and day-to-day leadership to three nurses (plus ad hoc and bank staff), and managing rotas to ensure clinic cover, productivity and patient throughput across the department
● Delivering expert clinical care across travel, occupational and general health – including travel consultations, vaccinations (adult and children), advising on anti-malarial medication, and supporting pre-departure, visa and occupational health medicals, all delivered under a PGD framework
● Championing patient experience — building trusted relationships with patients, communicating complex health information clearly and confidently, and ensuring every consultation reflects the clinic's reputation for excellent, personalised care.
● Running point-of-care tests and practice nursing services (ex: wound care and suture removal)
● Leading quality, clinical governance and compliance for nursing– undertaking clinical audits, monitoring outcomes, driving continuous improvement, and providing assurance around clinic checks and adherence to clinical policies and procedures
● Owning stock and resource assurance – overseeing clinical room provisioning and the ordering and management of vaccines, medicines, consumables and clinical supplies across the clinic
● Coordinating the ongoing development of the travel medical kit range
● Participating in off-site and corporate projects, including testing programmes, wellbeing days, group vaccination sessions and flu campaigns
● Acting as a senior clinical resource across the practice, working closely with doctors, clinicians and front of house to ensure seamless, joined-up patient care
